In general, Interior Designer’s fees are calculated in one of three ways: as a time charge based on the number of hours taken to complete the work; as a fixed sum based on a estimate of the work required; or as a percentage of the final construction cost for a project.  On some projects it may be more suitable to charge an hourly rate for our services, on others a percentage based fee. 

For the preliminary stages of a project (excluding the free initial consultation) we usually charge an agreed lump sum figure.  This eliminates the open-ended nature of an hourly rate based fee, and takes account of the fact that in the initial stages it is often impossible to estimate the construction cost – this does not become clear until the design has been developed to a detailed level.  Once the Client is happy with our design proposal we are then able to determine future fees depending on how they wish to progress the project.
